After a few years removed from the boatbuilding industry, John Whiticar and his team have decided to get back to work. However, rather than ramping up with equipment and manpower, Whiticar Boat Works has formed a joint venture with Garlington Landeweer to build new custom sportfishing yachts. This plan arose during last year’s Custom Shootout in the Bahamas, when the two iconic builders had a discussion kicking around the idea of constructing boats together as one team. John Whiticar talked with Peter Landeweer about the difficulties of starting back up again after taking a few years off and Peter agreed to help by joining forces with him. A premier event of the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County and gift to the community, the 2016 22nd Annual Palm Beach Holiday Boat Parade kicks off the holiday season this year on Saturday, December 3!

The parade will begin at the north end of the Lake Worth Lagoon and proceed north on the Intracoastal Waterway to the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. Tens of thousands of spectators will come out to enjoy the procession of more than 50 decorated vessels sparkling on the Intracoastal Waterway beneath a backdrop of phenomenal traveling fireworks. There will be extended fireworks at North Palm Beach Marina, Jupiter’s Plaza Down Under on the Riverwalk and Harbourside Place, plus a grand finale at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse courtesy of Square

If you are looking for some fun during this holiday season, look no further than the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade. The parade is going to be held on December 10th from 6:30pm to 11:00pm. It will be the largest one-day live audience in Florida as well as one of the top 20 parades in the world. The Boat Parade will stage on the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale, along the docks west of Stranahan House to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The Parade travels East to the Intracoastal Waterway as it continues North to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach. It’s 12 Miles of the “Greatest Show on H20.” The theme for this years 45th anniversary parade is “Comics and Cartoons Rockin’ the Night Away”.

The founder of Tribute Performance Boats, Rich Scheffer Sr., was the lead builder for the legendary boat building pioneer, Jim Smith. While leading the Jim Smith team, Scheffer went on to build some of the most advanced and fastest sportfishers in the world. Once the older Jim Smith passed away, Scheffer went on to start his own boat building company, now known as Tribute Performance Boats, as a tribute to his longtime friend and mentor. Over the years, the Tribute brand has produced some of the fastest and most fuel-efficient performance sportfishing boats on the water.
